In this three part video tutorial, MoMo [ r u n n i n g o u t o f s p a c e ] demonstrates how the Xone:DB4 mixer can be utilised in conjunction with the Xone:K2 controllers to offer enhanced looping control and resampling functionality.
MoMo is a Chicago-born, London-based Producer of underground House music. He also DJs and creates recordings & art under the production alias "runningoutofspace" (studio/record label).
"These are basic techniques shown. However, the Xone:DB4 & Xone:K2 combination provides on-board tools for performance possibilities that are simply limitless. Users can actually build & build by introducing new parts through the Matrix; resampling and juggling input sources to layer more parts (with FX, Filters, Equalization/Band Isolation, and various Looped time signatures) into the recording path."
You need to have Version 2 Firmware on both the Xone:DB4 mixer and Xone:K2 controllers for these techniques to work.
Part 1: Technique: Xone:DB4 & Xone:K2 Looper Control + Feedback Loop Trick
Info:
The vinyl music track is looped and played internally on the Xone:DB4 mixer with a Xone:K2 controller that is "paired" via X:LINK for enhanced looper control.
The Record Digital Out is connected to Digital One Input to create a "Feedback Loop Trick" for further creative options and uses of the mixers Input Matrix.

Part 2: Technique: Xone:DB4 & Xone:K2 MIDI Mapped to Traktor Pro with Looper Control + Feedback Loop Trick
Info:
With a Laptop running Traktor Pro Software, the music tracks are initially controlled on the Xone:DB4 mixer via MIDI Shift, before setting a running loop that is played internally using the Xone:DB4 loopers.
The Xone:K2 controllers are both MIDI Mapped to Traktor Pro Software.
Switching between normal MIDI Mapped use of the Xone:K2 controllers (for Traktor Pro) and enabling X:LINK pairing for enhanced looper control offers further joint uses of both Traktor Pro Software and enhanced looper control of the Xone:DB4 mixer with the Xone:K2 controllers.
This creates a vast amount of flexible control and looping functionality.
The Record Digital Out is connected to Digital One Input to create a "Feedback Loop Trick" for further creative options and uses of the mixers Input Matrix.
Tracks:
Dplay "Tschaka" [Runningback] & La Pena "Cheesecake" [La Pena]
Part 3: Technique: Resampling on Xone:DB4 via Feedback Loop Trick
Info:
With a Laptop running Traktor Pro Software, the music track is initially controlled on the Xone:DB4 mixer via MIDI Shift, before setting a running loop using the internal Xone:DB4 loopers.
The Xone:K2 controller is "paired" via X:LINK for enhanced looper control.
The Record Digital Out is connected to Digital One Input as used on the "Feedback Loop Trick" example for further creative options and uses of the mixers Input Matrix.
With access to the using the Xone:DB4 mixers FX and features, the Filter and EQ are used to alter the running loop.
This creates a resample process using the Xone:DB4 as the hub.
